Dennis Hermelyn

PhD Student, Medical Physics
Institute for AI in Medicine, Germany

Dennis studied Medical Physics at TU Dortmund, focusing his initial research on the Relative Biological Effectiveness (RBE) of proton therapy. Following this academic foundation, he joined the IKIM to pursue his PhD. As a member of the Advanced Methods and Technologies for Proton Therapy (AMTEC-PRO) graduate school, his current research centers on predicting proton therapy dose distributions using neural operators.

In his day-to-day role at the institute, Dennis develops neural operator architectures to replace time-intensive traditional Monte Carlo Simulations. By applying these methods to radiotherapy data, he aims to increase the speed and computational efficiency of treatment planning tasks.
