Fabian Freisleben

Clinician Scientist (guest), Computational Nuclear Medicine
Institute for AI in Medicine, Germany

Fabian is a physician currently pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Computer Science at the FernUniversität in Hagen while continuing his clinical training, specializing in Intelligent Systems. Before joining IKIM, he trained in radiation oncology and is currently a resident in nuclear medicine, with more than four years of experience in oncologic imaging. Since January 2026, he has been working as a Clinician Scientist at IKIM, focusing on the interface of clinical practice and AI research.

Combining training in medicine and computer science, his work aims to integrate the key stages of translational AI development in nuclear medicine, from identifying clinical needs and generating high-quality ground truth data through algorithm development, real-world validation, and translation in clinical practice. His research focuses on AI-driven analysis of PET imaging for oncologic staging and therapy response assessment, enabling automated reporting and imaging biomarker extraction.
