Julian studied medicine at Heidelberg University before completing a PhD in Vascular Biology at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. He has extensive clinical experience in internal medicine and emergency medicine, and is currently finalizing his specialty training at the West German Cancer Center. At IKIM, he leads the Clinical Translation group, bridging the gap between AI research and clinical practice. His work spans original research in medical natural language processing and the coordination of several national projects aimed at advancing the digitalization of oncology and fostering collaboration across cancer care networks in Germany. His overarching goal is to embed AI meaningfully into clinical workflows, ultimately improving outcomes for patients.
