Matthias Hoffjan

PhD Student, Computational Pathology
Institute for AI in Medicine, Germany

Matthias studied Computer Science at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and later specialized in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science during his master’s program. Already during his studies, he was primarily interested in the application of computer science and AI to biological and medical questions.

After completing his master’s degree, he decided to pursue a PhD at IKIM, where he joined the Computational Pathology team. There, he works on applying computer science and AI to pathological data. His work focuses on developing AI models for pathology as well as building a pipeline that enables these models to be deployed in clinical practice.

His main goal is to help digital pathology bridge the gap from research to clinical use.
